The LGBTQ+ community is in mourning today after hearing of a shooting at Club Q, a Colorado nightclub, where reports say 5 are dead and 18 injured. The suspect is in custody, and appears to have also been injured, according to police sources.

It’s important with breaking news not to jump to conclusions. However, whatever the motive for this shooting, the fact remains that the inflammatory rhetoric, lies, and scapegoating of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender people and drag performers, has created an atmosphere where acts of violence against us are inevitable. We will update this page if a clearer picture emerges about the motive of the shooter in this instance.
